I start with a post like this to remind myself (and others) of why we use computers in the first place…they are merely a tool for a larger purpose.

I find that many technology professionals may get stuck believing technology is the end-all/be-all of business, that is, they believe business need technology. However, technology without a purpose is useless! Technology needs a business driver to make it useful.

I recently completed a project management course, where a source of issues lie with projects not being tied to business goals and vision. Technology is the same – it helps us work more efficiently, but it must be tied to the business goals at some level.
