I’ve just moved my page from shared goDaddy.com hosting to wordpress.com hosting.
Hang with me if some of the pictures don’t show – they should…but I may have missed a link or two.
Thanks for visiting.

Hello all –
I’ve been off the blog kick for awhile while settling some career choices, but I plan on posting on a regular basis now.
My job focus as of late has been .NET forms stuff (ADO .NET, VB .NET, etc.) and SQL (from a developer position – which varies greatly from a sys admin perspective!).
I will probably be posting some various code snippets as I am able…
Thanks to Josh – a new them has been applied!
Chops 3.0 brings a new look and feel that is welcomed!

I love msconfig – I just hate using it and then having to remove prompts for users – if you change anything related to startup entries, Windows 2003/XP will alarm mere mortal users at next boot.
See the screen shot below – this will certainly generate help desk calls. If they are not a local administrator, they will see another nasty one saying they don’t have access to msconfig.
As you can see, a nifty reminder is place in the “Run” area for all users to see. To avoid the reminder, simply delete this “MSConfig” value in this section of the registry before rebooting. This way, you can work on a machine and leave, confident that the next reboot will be without the message box!

For Windows 2008/7, I didn’t see the mentioned value created, nor did I see a message box appear after an edit like in 2003/XP.
OK – I made it through the Master of Science degree program…was not easy, but nothing worthwhile ever is.
With only the book binding left, I reflect upon my progress.
I would like to count myself lucky as being able to be dangerous with both system administration and development tasks. I believe it was quite valuable to step outside my traditional system administration role and put on the “hat” of a software coder for a bit.
For any that are interested, I will be posting my source code, along with a compiled version on https://sourceforge.net/projects/remotedesktopad/
